W&L Today: Student Panel

Join us for a dynamic student panel featuring voices from across the arts spectrum. This insightful discussion brings together students who are deeply engaged in their respective disciplines, offering a unique perspective on the latest developments and experiences within their arts programs. This panel will highlight the rich diversity of experiences and showcase how students are pushing boundaries, honing their craft, and contributing to the vibrant arts community.

W&L Reflections: Alumni Panel

An inspiring alumni panel sharing how their university experiences helped shape their careers and lives after college. These accomplished alumni will reflect on their time in the arts programs, discussing how the university's training, creative community, and hands-on opportunities prepared them for the challenges of the professional world. Alumni will also share their career path and current role in the arts.

Master Class Session

Dance Master Class with Professor Davies – remember the Electric Slide and Boot Scootin’ Boogie? What if you mix in a little Yellowstone and Cowboy Carter? Join us for a fun, no-experience-required line dance class. Any attire welcome. Class is taught in socks or bare feet at the W&L Dance Studios, 109 S Jefferson Street. 

Theater Games Master Class with Professor Levy – One of the building blocks of collaboration and creativity – in the arts and elsewhere – is play, yet we often neglect it after childhood.  So come remember what it’s like to be a kid again!  No experience necessary, and all abilities welcome. Class is taught on Keller Stage.

Theatre Performance, Bentley Musical: The Prom
with a post-show talk-back session with student performers

A special performance of "The Prom," a lively and heartwarming musical. This vibrant production tells the story of a high school student, Emma, who is banned from attending her prom because she wants to bring her girlfriend as her date. When a group of Broadway actors, desperate to revive their careers, learn about Emma’s plight, they decide to take matters into their own hands and help her attend the prom in style, leading to a fun and inspiring journey of acceptance, love, and standing up for what's right. Stick around for a talk back with the director and several student performers!

Cocktail and Networking Reception

Conclude a day of reconnecting and celebrating the Arts with alumni and faculty. Hors d'oeuvres and drinks will be served. Rob Mish will lead a memorial tribute honoring beloved faculty who have recently passed.

Transportation Schedule

For your convenience, a shuttle will be available to transport guests between Lenfest Center and W&L Dance Studios on Saturday. Please see the schedule below for departure times, and feel free to use the shuttle as needed during the designated time frames.

Saturday, March 15

10:45 a.m. – 11:15 a.m.

A shuttle will arrive at Lenfest Center at 10:45 a.m., with the first departure at 11:00 a.m. to W&L Dance Studios (109 S. Jefferson Street). The shuttle will run on a loop as needed until 11:15 a.m.

Noon – 12:15 p.m.

A shuttle will be available for return transportation from W&L Dance Studios back to Lenfest Center, running on a loop as needed until 12:15 p.m.

  • The W&L Culinary Team takes great care to provide healthy, balanced eating options for our event weekends. We are committed to helping guests with their dietary needs. Each menu signage lists common allergens and traits so you can find the best options for you; whether you have food allergies, health conditions, religious restrictions, or simply need guidance or assistance with your food selections. We do our best to menu in a way that can fit most diets and common restrictions. We take every precaution to check ingredient information and to ensure that cross-contamination of ingredients does not occur. It is important to note, we do not have allergen-free facilities or serving lines.

  • Shuttle service will be provided from the Lenfest Center to the Dance Studio for the Master Class afternoon session. More information coming soon! 

  • We know better than to predict a forecast—things change very quickly here in the Shenandoah Valley, especially in the spring! Check the weather before you leave home. There may be activities under tents, being outside you may want to pack a jacket for the cooler nights and/or rainy weather.

  • Dress for the weekend is casual. We encourage dressing in layers and packing a jacket and/or raincoat. Comfortable shoes are highly recommended, high heels can be tricky to navigate on the brick sidewalks and/or the grass.

We may have options available to ensure you can participate in W&L Theater, Dance and Film Studies: Encore! Your presence is important to us, and we want to help make it possible for you to join the celebration.

  • Yes. We will refund your registration in full up until Friday, March 7. After that date, unfortunately we are unable to offer a refund. Email alumni@wlu.edu if you need a refund. 

  • Parking is available behind the Duchossois Athletic and Recreation Center. Consult the campus map for more information. 

  • Our goal is to make W&L Theater, Dance and Film Studies: Encore! accessible to all attendees and ensure that everyone feels welcome and comfortable. Alumni requiring assistance should contact alumni@wlu.edu to make prior arrangements.
