FAQ

CHECK-IN & REGISTRATION 

We recommend your first stop on campus be the Elrod Commons Atrium for check-in and any last-minute registrations. Check-in and day-of event ticket sales opens Friday, September 25 at 9:00 a.m. in the Elrod Commons Atrium, closing at 6:00 p.m. and will also be available at the Welcome Back Bash on the Law School Lawn. Check-in and ticket sales on Saturday is located in Elrod Commons beginning at 9:00 a.m.   

Your name tag is your admission ticket for all Young Alumni Weekend events (and required to be served food and/or beverages).   

Looking for a place to hang out in between events? Check out the YAW Base Camp located in the Outing Club Room in Elrod Commons. Open on Friday and Saturday from 9:00 – 9:00 p.m., it’s the perfect spot to relax.  

ATTIRE 

Dress for the entire weekend is casual. We encourage dressing in layers and packing a jacket and/or raincoat. Comfortable shoes are highly recommended. 

ACCESSIBILITY   

Our goal is to make events accessible to all attendees and ensure that everyone feels welcome and comfortable. Alumni requiring assistance should contact alumni@wlu.edu to make prior arrangements.   

WEATHER 

We know better than to predict a forecast – things change very quickly here in the Shenandoah Valley, especially in the fall! Check the weather before you leave. Most of our activities are under tents, but still outside, so you will want to pack a jacket and/or dress in layers for potential cooler evenings or rainy weather.

TRANSPORTATION 

Shuttle vans will be available from 9 a.m. until 2 a.m. on Friday, September 25 and 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. on Saturday. Vans will run a specific route between the hotels listed below, the pole houses, Greenhouse Road houses, and the Cabins, running on a loop during the designated times and will drop-off at The Quad (along Washington Street across from Childress Hall, the new Williams School Building.) Shuttles will also pick-up and drop-off along Denny Circle near the Law School Lawn for evening activities.  

Shuttles will drop off at these hotels on Friday and Saturday: 

  • Best Western Plus Inn at Hunt Ridge, Best Western Lexington Inn, Sleep Inn & Suites, Comfort Inn, Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Motel 6, Spark, Super 8, Wingate, Tru by Hilton, Residence Inn by Marriott.  

CAMPUS CONSTRUCTION 

We encourage you to explore campus while you are here. Please be mindful of active construction sites including the Founders Hall project (corner of Washington Street and Lee Avenue), renovations to Lee House, infrastructure updates near Graham-Lees Residence Hall, Holekamp Hall and Huntley Hall, and construction on Cannan Green.
